NEW YORK — New York Ranger defenseman Mark Stones is set to begin the preseason on the NHL sidelines on Thursday night, Oct:15, when the Rangers take on the Buffalo Sabres at 7:00 p.m.
EDT (20:00 GMT).
“It’s just great to finally be able to put some ice on this little skate, and get my first preseason game under my belt,” Stones said.
“I can’t wait to get out there and compete and play and see what happens.”
After a lengthy wait, Stones was signed by the Rangers as a free agent on Jan. 17, 2018, but missed most of training camp due to injury.
The Rangers then traded him to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who signed him to a four-year, $20 million contract on March 25, 2018.
In his debut season in New York, the 21-year-old is averaging 19:17 of ice time in his first preseason match-up with the Sabres, including the playoffs.
The Rangers currently sit in second place in the Atlantic Division and have eight points through six games.
They will begin their preseason campaign on Thursday when they face the New York Islanders at the Barclays Center.
